Kolenu | קולנו – Our Voice

Location: Hashomer Hatzair Education and Cultural Centre, Berlin-Friedrichshain

Kolenu | קולנו – Our Voice is an empowerment and education project for adult members of the Israeli and Jewish community in Berlin.

The project is aimed at people who want to improve their German language skills, make their perspectives more visible and actively participate in social debates. Kolenu creates a space for exchange, shared learning and personal development – combined with the opportunity to implement your own ideas and gain public visibility.

Structure & Procedure

Participation is for one cycle (semester) of ca. 3-4 months each.

Each cycle includes:

• Approximately 15 reading group meetings
• approx. 6 workshops

Most of the meetings take place on a fixed day of the week (in the first cycle: Wednesdays), , between 18:00 and 20:00.
In addition, individual dates take place on weekends.

The next cycles will start in March 2026 and September 2026.

Terms and conditions of participation

The participation fee is €100.00 per cycle.

Participants will receive a certificate of participation if they attend at least 80% of the meetings.

A reduction is possible for people with financial difficulties. Please contact us in confidence.

What can you expect?

Reading Group
Reading and discussing texts from literature, society and politics together – with room for different perspectives and language practice.

Workshops
Practical ideas on language, writing, rhetoric and social participation.

Own initiatives
Over the course of the cycle, participants develop their own small projects or public contributions.

Who can participate?

Adult members of the Israeli and Jewish community in Berlin who:

• would like to improve their German language skills (from level B2)
• are interested in social issues
• are keen to exchange ideas and learn together
• would like to contribute their own ideas

Registration takes place before the start of each cycle.
After registering, you will receive further information about the process and dates.

If you are interested in principle but cannot participate in the upcoming cycle, please register anyway. This will keep you informed and ensure you receive information about future project phases in good time.
