Wer sind wir?
Hashomer Hatzair ist der internationale, linke jüdische Jugendverband in Deutschland, der soziale Gerechtigkeit und Dialog durch nicht-formale Bildungsmethoden fördert. Die Jugendbewegung wurde vor gut 10 Jahren, nach mehr als 70 Jahren, in Deutschland wiedergegründet. Unser Kernprinzip ist die Autonomie der Jugend. Wir befähigen Jugendliche und junge Erwachsene, ihre Gemeinschaft durch die Organisation von Aktivitäten und Veranstaltungen zu gestalten. Unser Aktivitätszentrum ist “Ken Berlin”, das das ganze Jahr über Aktivitäten initiiert.
Was ist ein „Sommermachane“?
Das bedeutet “Sommercamp” auf Hebräisch und ist ein Raum für Kinder und Jugendliche, in dem sie sich frei ausdrücken und lebenslange Freundschaften schließen können. Unser Programm beinhaltet lustige Outdoor-Aktivitäten, kreative Projekte und interessante Workshops. Der Höhepunkt des Sommers findet in einem wunderschönen Ferienlager nördlich von Berlin statt. Es gibt viel Platz und liegt in der Nähe eines großen Sees. Die Einladung findest du hier.
Wonach suchen wir bei Teammitgliedern?
Wir suchen ein motiviertes, vielfältiges Team mit unterschiedlichen Hintergründen. Idealerweise bist du zwischen 16 und 21 Jahre alt und politisch interessiert. Doch das Wichtigste ist: Du hast Lust, mit uns eine unvergessliche Sommermachane zu gestalten! Erfahrung in der Arbeit mit Kindern und Jugendlichen ist von Vorteil, aber nicht notwendig. Im Hinblick auf deine Rolle im Team fragen wir dich: Welche Fähigkeiten, Erfahrungen oder Kenntnisse möchtest du in das Camp einbringen? Welche Art von Aktivitäten macht dir Spaß und du fühlst dich wohl dabei?
Teamer*innen 16-21: Du bist in der Planung sowie in der Durchführung des Sommermachanes aktiv und planst Workshops und weitere Aktivitäten. Für die Teilnehmenden bist du eine erste*r Ansprechpartner*in und bist im engen Kontakt mit der Koordinatorin und dem weiteren Team.
Im Vorfeld finden zwei Vorbereitungsseminare statt, folgende Daten müssen daher freigehalten werden: 24.-30. Juni und 19.-21. Juli
Helfer*innen 18+: Deine Verantwortung als Helfer*in ist, als unterstützende Kraft bei der Durchführung des Sommermachanes dabei zu sein. Du bist beispielsweise in der Planung von Abendprogrammen und Ausflügen involviert. In dieser Position hast du auch die perfekte Möglichkeit Hashomer Hatzair und unsere Jugendarbeit kennenzulernen und erste Erfahrungen in der Jugendarbeit mitzunehmen. Wir brauchen Unterstützung bei verschiedenen Aufgaben, z.B. als Teil des Küchenteams, in den sozialen Medien und so weiter: Die vollständige Liste findest du im Formular unten.
Wir freuen uns natürlich, wenn du uns das ganze Machane über unterstützt. Trotzdem bieten wir die Möglichkeit an nur für die Hälfte des Machanes als Helfer*in da zu sein.
Die möglichen Daten sind folgende:
- 17.-28.08 Machane in voller Länge (mit einem Tag vor- und nach)
- 17.-23.08 Erste Hälfte des Machanes
- 22.-28.08 Zweite Hälfte des Machanes
Aus logistischen und pädagogischen Gründen bevorzugen wir Helfer*innen, die sich die ganze Zeit oder zumindest die Hälfte der Zeit engagieren können. Bitte bewirb dich auch, wenn du dich auf andere Termine festlegen kannst.

Who are we?
Hashomer Hatzair is the international, left Jewish youth association in Germany that promotes social justice and dialogue through non-formal education tools. The youth movement was re-established in Germany 10 years ago, after more than 70 years. Our core principle is youth autonomy. We empower youth and young adults to shape their community by organising activities and events. Our activity center is “Ken Berlin”, which initiates activities all through the year.
What’s a “Sommermachane”?
Meaning “summer camp” in Hebrew (and German), it is a space for children and youth in which they can express themselves freely and build lifelong friendships. Our program contains fun outdoor activities, creative projects and interesting workshops on the values hat guide us. The summer’s highlight will take place at a beautiful camping area in the north of Berlin. It’s got plenty of space and is located close to a big lake. You can find the invitation here.
What do we look for in team members?
We are looking for a motivated, diverse team from different backgrounds. Ideally, you’re 16 to 21 years old and politically interested. But most importantly: you’re excited to create a memorable Sommermachane with us! Experience in working with kids and youth is an advantage but not necessary. Considering your role in the team we ask you: what kind of skills, experience or knowledge do you want to bring to the camp? What kind of activities do you love and feel comfortable with?
Educational Team 16-21: You will be involved in the planning as well as the implementation of the Sommermachane and plan workshops and other activities. You are the first contact person for the participants and are in close contact with the coordinator and the rest of the team.
Helpers 18+: Your responsibility as a team member is to be a supporting force in the implementation of the Sommermachane. For example, you will be involved in planning evening programs and excursions. In this position you will also have the perfect opportunity to get to know Hashomer Hatzair and our youth work as well as to pick up first skills of youth work. We need support with various tasks, e.g. as part of the kitchen team, in social media and so on: you can find the full list in the form below.
The possible dates are as follows:
- 17-28.08 Machane in full length (with one day before and after)
- 17-23.08 First half of the Machane
- 22-28.08 Second half of the Machane
For logistical and educational reasons, we prefer helpers who can commit to the whole time or at least half of the time. Please also apply if you can commit to other dates.
Helpers are warmly invited to attend the preparatory seminar on 19-21 Juli.
It is also possible to do an internship at Hashomer Hatzair for one or two months before the summer machane. Contact us if this is an option for you.
