Coordination for Ken Warsaw

Hashomer Hatzair is a left-wing, democratic and emancipatory secular Jewish youth association that stands up for the rights and interests of children and young people. Through non-formal educational work and critical pedagogy based on solidarity, we try to realise our vision of a free, equal and just society. The association works to connect and strengthen the pluralistic community, for the recognition of Judaism as a shared culture and history.  Hashomer Hatzair was founded in Galicia (Eastern Europe) in 1913, and during the Holocaust was active in leading resistance in the ghettoes, the forests and the concentration camps.

Ken Warsaw is the name of the reestablished activity group in Warsaw.

We are looking for a Coordinator for Ken Warsaw, as a direct representative of Hashomer Hatzair World Movement, existing in 27 countries worldwide. The main tasks are to coordinate the community activities and contact with families and volunteers and lead the administrative and pedagogical work of the Ken.

The coordinator is responsible for the community building around the Ken youth and families, taking care of its sustainable work through leading the pedagogical Ken Team. The joint international summer camp of Ken Warsaw and Ken Berlin takes place annually in the summer months in Germany, and this activity is paid additionally.

The position includes the following tasks:

• Educational guidance of the youth leaders
• (Social) pedagogical work with children and young people
• Community building and contact with the families and volunteers
• Concept development and project planning
• Event organisation
• Budget planning and management under supervision
• Reporting on the activities of the Ken
• Representation of the organisation in relevant events
• Public relations
